web_9Owner and Principal Designer, Pam Palermo embraced the opportunity to be the sole proprietor of her own business in her hometown. Having lived and worked in Columbus, Ohio for twenty-three years, the decision was not an easy one, but one which embodied the adage, “When one door closes, another one opens…”

The name given to her floral business has special meaning to her and her family. Named after her maternal grandparents, “Wooden Apple” is the literal translation of their surname, Holzapfel. An immigrant from Germany, John Holzapfel came to this country, met and married his only love Celeste, and started their future together; eventually owning and operating their own business in Meadville, Pennsylvania. There they raised their family, and later in life, moved to Columbus, Ohio.

Being an integral presence in the lives of their children and grandchildren, their spirit of adventure, unfaltering perserverance, and commitment to integrity were passed on. It is in their honor and memory that Pam chose the name, “The Wooden Apple” for her floral business.

For the first six years, Pam owned and operated a retail storefront in North Kingsville, Ohio and offered both quality fresh and silk floral arrangement as well as a line of interior accents and gifts. Pam’s passion, however, was most present when designing for weddings and special events. That passion led her to make the decision to close the retail storefront and focus her floral business exclusively to weddings and special events – developing and designing at an off-site location. While the retail storefront is gone, outstanding customer service, attention to detail and design know-how remain hallmarks of The Wooden Apple exclusive wedding & special event florist. Pam’s passion and cutting-edge design is evident in every bouquet, boutonnierre and centerpiece.

Pam welcomes you to call her to discuss your particular needs. She is committed to making your experience a pleasant and memorable one. The Wooden Apple is the perfect florist for the perfect day!
